The Family History of Richard Nixon | Richard Nixon Genealogy
Richard M. Nixon is the only U.S. President to resign from office after facing otherwise almost certain impeachment and forced removal from office because of the Watergate scandal. This involved a cover-up of an illegal break-in of the Democratic Party headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, DC. Richard Nixon also previously served as Vice President under President Dwight Eisenhower.
Richard Nixon was born on January 13, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California. His parents were Francis Anthony Nixon and Hannah Milhous. On his father’s side, Nixon was of Scotch-Irish descent while on his mother’s side he was of German-English-Irish descent.
On his mother’s side, Nixon is descended from Charlemagne, William “the Conqueror”, and Arthur Howland, a brother of Mayflower passenger John Howland who himself was a passenger on the second ship to Plymouth, Massachusetts. Nixon shares a common descent from Christopher Almy and Richard Morris with President Jimmy Carter. Nixon’s daughter Julie married David Eisenhower, grandson of President Dwight Eisenhower.
