The Family History of Bill Clinton | Bill Clinton Genealogy

William Jefferson Clinton, known as Bill, was the first President to be a Rhodes Scholar. He was also the second President to have articles of impeachment issued against him by the U.S. House of Representatives, though he was acquitted by the U.S. Senate. During his two-term presidency, he presided over one of the most prosperous eras in U.S. history.

Later, his wife Hillary Clinton, would run for President and, after being defeated by Barack Obama in the Democratic Party primary election, was appointed Secretary of State. In addition to being highly ranked as having two successful terms as President, Bill Clinton is viewed as having one of the most successful post-presidencies of any ex-U.S. President.

Bill Clinton was born on August 19, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas three months after his father died in a car accident. His parents were William Jefferson Blythe and Virginia Dell Cassidy. His oldest traceable ancestors are his great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather Ephraim Farr who died in North Carolina in 1784 and his great-great-great-great-great grandfather Bryan Spradley who was born in Virginia around 1737. Another early ancestor was Adam Lockhart who was born on September 6, 1765 in Princess Anne County, Virginia.
